23 Jan Seminar on “Experience Sharing on Effectiveness of NEC Contract”

The Government of HKSAR has adopted the New Engineering Contract (NEC) for more than 50 public works and civil engineering projects since 2009 and will continue to use NEC for projects called in 2016 / 2017. Although projects benefit from the use of NEC, there are concerns in contract administration, particularly in target cost contracts.

In October 2016, DevB promulgated a Practice Notes for NEC ECC to raise the awareness of common issues and to align practices in contract administration and project management for projects using the ECC across various stages from option selection, preparation of tender documents and tender assessment to construction.

The seminar will discuss the practical issues, existing common problems with possible solutions and recommendations for effective implementation of the NEC.

The talk will be delivered by our Council Member Mr. KH Fok who fulfilled various roles in the civil engineering industry for over 30 years. His thorough grasp of the NEC3 and other forms of contract have helped in his successful management of more than 50 construction projects.
